Imperatives can be used when we give orders or order and use the infinitive with to instead of the imperative.

ESTRUCTURE

For example:

Direct speech: 
Don't open the door 
Don't climb the ladder
Don't run too much 

Indirect speech: 
She told us not to open the door.
She told me not to go up the stairs.
He told me not to run too much.



INDIRECT SPEECH: SAY AND TELL TENSE CHANGES 

Say focuses on the words someone said and telling focuses more on the content or messages of what someone said.


For example: 
My mom said stop yelling
They said: Today is a rainy day.
Carlos told me not to eat that.
They said they will do it tomorrow
She told me she wasn't going to the park.
